
Origins: From the “École d’administration” to the Ecole Libre des Sciences Politique®
The short-lived École d’administration (1848–1849) was France’s first higher education institution dedicated to the study of political science. Its existence was cut short by the rise of Emperor Napoleon III.

Ecole Libre des Sciences Politiques is a non-profit association and is formally registered in the Journal Officiel de la République Française under Annonce 1262, 156ᵉ année, N° 133. The Trademark Ecole Libre des Sciences Politiques® is registered in all Europe and in Switzerland.

Independence from the IEP – Sciences Po
To this day, the École Libre des Sciences Politiques maintains its complete independence—juridically, structurally, and ideologically—from the public and often controversial IEP, known as Sciences Po Paris.
